Sutton High Schoolers

Sutton High School:

Overview: Sutton Memorial High School encourages students to be lifelong learners. This summer, we are asking students to read an appropriate book worthy of high school literary merit that addresses the theme of change.

Prompt: Change is an inevitable part of life and shapes how we grow. Often in works of literature, a character or a human being undergoes some sort of change. Select an appropriate book worthy of high school literary merit, and as you read, consider the idea of change. What does the book have to say about the importance of change? These changes can be physical, emotional, social, or even ideological.

Recommended Titles: If you prefer some recommended titles that address the prompt, please take a look at some of our suggested titles from our high school staff:

  1. Ms. Fleming – The Women by Kristin Hannah
  2. Mr. Wandyes – The River We Remember by William Kent Krueger
  3. Ms. Hayes – The Alice Network by Kate Quinn
  4. Mr. Marcucci – Educated by Tara Westover
  5. Ms. Farmer – Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
  6. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
  7. Ms. O’Neil – Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
  8. An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green
  9. Mr. Loss – Cabin by Patrick Hutchinson
